"eco japan cup" is a public-private partnership event organized jointly by the Environmental Business Women, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Ministry of the Environment and Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. It is a contest for “unearthing and growing seeds of green business.

Japan takes pride in having built an economy and society founded on a sound material cycle and coexistence with the environment during the Edo Era roughly 300 years ago. Today, as the world is facing challenges from global warming and other environmental problems, Japan is determined to revive the concept of a sound material cycle and coexistence with the environment for a modern economy and society befitting the global era of the 21st century. Our objective is to create a sound, rich, and beautiful “Eco Japan” that balances economy with the environment. Through this contest, we can link different economic stakeholders with environmental goals and together bring forth new economic values.

"eco japan cup" is a follow-up to the environmental entrepreneur-training event "Environmental Dynamite! 2005" held on the occasion of the EXPO 2005 AICHI JAPAN.
